About The AMCSA
The Australian Maritime College Students' Association Inc. (AMCSA) is a non-profit, non-political, independent students' group run by students for students that can be found at the Newnham and Beauty Point campuses.
The purpose of the Association is to promote representation and involvement of the students of the College is all aspects of student endeavour: sporting activities, social events, cultural interaction and any other worthwhile activities. The Association also provides representation for the student body both within the College and at local, state, and national levels. The Students' Association is independent from, but works with, the College.
Activities range from barbecues to live entertainment, trivia nights to winery tours, inter-campus sporting events to the annual Nautical Ball. The Association is always looking for new and exciting activities to run for students and is open to suggestions. There are also opportunities to join one of the many clubs and societies supported by the Association or to start a new one. Clubs include: dive, sailing, hockey, surfing, fishing, basketball, water polo, rugby, kayak, outdoors, family; and societies include: Fisheries and Pacific Islanders'.
The Executive of the Students' Association consists of a President, Vice President/Treasurer, Secretary, Education & Welfare Officer, Activities & Sports & Recreation Officer, Assistant Activities Officer, Media Officer, Overseas Student Representative, Women's Representative, Postgraduate Representative, Beauty Point Representative and a Newnham Representative.
The Students' Association has two shops/offices, one on each campus. It employs an Administrative Officer and Administrative Assistants to run these. The shops provide students with services such as photocopying, binding and laser printing; and sells bus and movie tickets, stationery, course notes and AMC memorabilia. The shops are also the Students' Association's main offices on each campus, so these are usually centres of activity.
